another class another assignment

This is the last week of a great art class I was in. I learned so much in this class that i don't know where to start. If I can find now to post a picture I will. I am working on my final piece. Right  now I am waiting for my teacher to look at what I started to give me some help. I am so excited to have learned the two techniques from her. She also threw in video documentaries on famous artist that i had never seen before.

I spent most of the day working on my class. I needed to review and make copies of print outs she left for us to use as a reference. I worked on the eyes, mouth and nose. The nose is most difficult. Then I did an assignment. If I can find out how to post the picture of the print out and the drawing I did side by side here I will. Please wait or go to my fb page to see it there. Not 2 seconds after I posted it someone that is not in my class liked it. So there is improvement in the tent!

Hello Blog

Hello Blog,
So today I am starting a blog. My art class started 2 days ago. This is an online course. On the site there are already tons of artwork posted. I've seen beautiful work. I have done one assignment and posted it to the site. Posting it just about scared me to death.  My piece was good in some ways and I will get to that  in a minute. I watched my teacher on the computer screen and drew with messy charcoal and white pastel. What a mess. She was showing us in her speed how to fill in the shadows and the darkest places first. Then she starts to form.  The young face I drew was kinda ugly. I know I need work on the eyes and the nose. My teacher has posted a hand out showing us how to  do them and that will be the next thing I work on. Anyway, I did post my work with my breath held in. The next day I took a look and there were some nice words and likes from my fellow students. You know what? The most important like was also there. That was the like from my teacher.
On one of the pages I have seen artwork from more than 100 students that signed up for this 6 week course. Most of the work, no all of the work on that page is good, very good and excellent. So when I went to post my ugly young girl, I had second thoughts about doing so.
